Being listened to and having an impact
Lasse Sletto, Project Engineer
He started in ELIQUO as an apprentice, but wanted more school. Lasse Sletto has now completed his training as a 3D draftsman. "I really enjoyed myself here, but told the management that I wanted to go back to school and got nothing but positive reactions. I'm glad that they gave me that opportunity," says Lasse Sletto. In June 2022, he completed the four-year technical vocational school which makes him a fully trained 3D draftsman. Not everyone understands what the former apprentice is now doing. "Simply put, I draw 3D models of pipe systems for water purification and wastewater treatment," he says. "We're a great bunch. As one of the youngest, I benefit greatly from the experience of the others. I can learn something every day, and at the same time gain responsibility and trust, both as a draftsman and construction manager on various projects. As an apprentice at ELIQUO, he had no clear plan, but soon found that he enjoyed working with wastewater treatment plants. It gave me a taste to develop with more schooling. "Treatment plants have an important function in society. In my job, I get to take part in many crucial processes, be a bit of a nerd, try to understand, take the challenges and solve them in the best possible way. There are large systems to be drawn from scratch, and Lasse must cooperate closely and well with his colleagues. "There are a lot of good people here, and I have a lot of respect for other people's knowledge. But I also experience that I am taken seriously, that I am listened to, can influence and take part in the decisions. I think that's really nice, and it motivates me to learn even more in the job. He describes himself as restless and curious, and admits that he could easily get bored if his days in Enwa stood still and the only excitement lay in the motorhome, in fishing lakes or on trips with the dog. "They don't," Lasse says. "I face challenges here daily. Now that I have completed my education, and also gained some experience, I get to test myself both theoretically and practically. I think it's a lot of fun.

"rying to give them what I got
Reidulf Holm, Workshop Manager
Reiulf Holm was going to be a baker, but the warmth of the working environment and the people in ELIQUO pulled him away from the ovens. "I started at Ivar Halvorsen's bakery the day I turned 15, but got bored, looked for something new, and through an acquaintance I sent an open application to ELIQUO. Young Reiulf had never taken in an angle grinder, but was fond of working, eager to learn, and the guys in the workshop noticed the apprenticeship. "The first memory I have of that time is that it was safe and sound here. And I like things that are safe. Alongside his job, he took up subjects. Finally, he also had a certificate of apprenticeship as an industrial plumber, became a permanent employee, and traveled the country welding pipes. Today, he himself leads the workshop. "My job is to facilitate so that the others can do the job they are supposed to do. There's a lot going on, a lot of phone calls, and a lot that needs to be taken on the fly. But I enjoy working with people, even when conflicts arise that need to be resolved," explains Reiulf, who in addition to his job as manager in the workshop is the company's main safety representative. Every day he reminds himself of what it was like to be a new apprentice in ELIQUO, of the support he received from the older guys. "As their manager, I try to give the employees the same security that I myself experienced," he emphasizes. "We always land at the best solutions together. We must include and create a framework where everyone dares to speak up. Because people are different, and it's not always that those who shout the loudest have the most to say. He describes his own workday as varied and eventful. "I'm really enjoying it, which is why I've stayed here all these years," he says. "The bakery was fast-paced as well, and I still think it's fun to cook at home, but I'm getting closer to the people in this job and that's good for me. I have no plans for doing anything else.
